MALTA DOLPHINS

Experience an unforgettable encounter with the Malta dolphins. Choose from one of the available dolphin interaction experiences which are alternatives to the swim with dolphins experience and open to adults and children over the age of 6 or 8 (depending on the type of interaction chosen). Prices for both particpants and spectators include FREE entrance to the park and access to all the daily presentations.

THE DRY DOLPHIN INTERACTION

Experience the Park’s dolphins up close and personal and stay dry! Great for Kids or adults who are not comfortable in deep water. With prices starting at EUR 80 participants over the age of 6 can enjoy a close encounter with the Dolphins for 15 minutes. This is a dry interactive programme and participants will be allowed to touch the dolphins and learn about the positive reinforcement technique which stimulates the dolphins both physically and mentally. Guests who intend to book a Swim with Dolphins should NOT book a Dolphin Interactive Programme for the same person/s on the same day, this is mainly because both the Swim with Dolphins and Interactive Programmes are usually done at the same time, furthermore guests who have booked a Swim With Dolphins will also be interacting with the Dolphins.

3 to 5 year olds may be accepted on request, in this instance 3 to 5 year olds are held in the arms of an adult.

THE SHALLOW WATER DOLPHIN INTERACTION

Prices starting at EUR 109 participants over the age of 8 can enjoy a close encounter with the Dolphins for 15 minutes. This Dolphin Interaction takes takes place in a shallow part of the pool, eliminating the need for swimming. This program is perfect for anyone who does not like to be in deep water or cannot swim but still wants to be in the water with a dolphin. Maximum group size is of 6 persons. Note that participants in this activity must be at least 125cm tall.

6 & 7 year olds may be accepted on request if they are at least 125cm tall and accompanied by a parent/guardian who also participates in this activity .

Did you know ? Bottlenose dolphins, the genus Tursiops, are the most common and well-known members of the family Delphinidae, the family of oceanic dolphins. These aquatic mammals hear through a sophisticated hearing sense and can listen to a broader range of frequencies than humans. Unlike fish, who breathe through gills, dolphins breathe air using lungs. Breathing involves expelling stale air from their blowhole followed by inhaling fresh air into the lungs. There are currently 5 dolphins at the Marine Park in Malta; Ninu, Cha, Rohan, Luqa and Sol.

SEA LION INTERACTIONS

GET CLOSE AND PERSONAL TO A SEA LION

The Marine Park’s South American Sea Lions are trained by the Park’s trainers using the positive reinforcement technique which allows them to perform in front of audiences without the need of any form of restraint. The Sea Lions are fed a mixture of sprat, herring and capelin. Guests can enjoy a close encounter with these wonderful Sea Lions during a 15 minute dry interactive and informative Sea Lion programme led by the experienced trainers of the Park, you will have the possibility to stroke and if you are lucky be kissed by one of the fabulous Sea Lions. Participants for the Sea Lions Interactive Programme must be over 6 years of age. Bookings must be done at least 2 full days in advance to your preferred activity date. The price of the Sea Lion interaction also includes FREE entrance to the Park and access to the the daily presentations.

Did you know ? Sea Lions are any species in seven genera of modern pinnipeds including one extinct species – the japanese sea lion. Sea lions are characterized by the presence of external ear pinnae (ear-flaps), long front flippers & the ability to walk on all four flippers on land.
